Is Morocco a Desert?
Not all of Morocco is a desert. The southwestern portion of the country is blanketed by the Sahara Desert. Moroccan Sahara is one of the largest deserts in the world. The northeastern part of Morocco has other geographic features.
The landscapes of Morocco has a wide range of mountains with slopes that gradually transition into plateaus and valleys. In the central part of the country, there are the Atlas Mountains that have Jebel Toubkal as the highest peak standing 13,664 feet above sea level. These mountains are divided into 3 Atlases, the High, the Middle, and the Anti Atlas. The High Atlas Mountains contain an impressive valley where you would fall in love with the rivers and waterfalls. There you can enjoy doing many activities like hiking, mountain biking, and skiing in the beautiful village of Oukaimeden, which is known as the best skiing resort in Morocco. The variety of natural structures in the Atlas Mountains will make adventure lovers more excited to come back to this place again and explore more.
The Rif Mountains make up the northern edge, they extend from Tangier in the west to the Moulouya River in the east, and the Mediterranean Sea in the north to the river of Ouargha in the south, and these mountains are the most majestic of Morocco landforms.
Morocco Sahara has beautiful orange dunes where you can enjoy sunrise/sunset camel trekking. Still, you will find it more amazing to explore the sands of the Mediterranean coast beaches.
